Immunity Boosting Recipe for Carers

Updated: Aug 15, 2020

Carers need to be cared for too - this starts with self-care. We hope that you will find some time this weekend for self-care, and enjoy this yummy immunity boosting juice recipe.

  • 2 x 5cm pieces turmeric

  • 1/2 pineapple, peeled, chopped

  • 3 Granny Smith or pink lady apples

  • 3 pears

  • 2 limes, skin removed

  • 1 large bunch spinach

  • 1 bunch each mint, flat-leaf parsley, & dandelion leaves (or extra parsley)

  • 2 passionfruit, pulp strained

Juice turmeric and set aside. Juice remaining ingredients. Pour into two glasses, then add half of the turmeric to each glass.

Herb tip: Did you know that dandelion has been used to promote health and reduce the risk of developing cancer? Some studies have shown that dandelion has anti-cancer properties, but the effect will need to be further studied in humans. Some studies suggest that dandelion may stimulate the growth of hormone-sensitive cancer cells, so caution should be taken in women with breast, uterine or ovarian cancer. Caution should also be taken in those with kidney disease because some of the components of dandelion can accumulate in people who have reduced kidney function, leading to toxicity.
