Creating a Better World Through Education

Dr. Melisa is a Family Nurse Practitioner, a Doctor of Nursing Practice (general practice), and an incredibly proud mother of four amazing daughters. She also holds qualifications as a birth and postpartum doula, a clinical hypnotherapist, and a spiritual counsellor and has trained through all levels of healing touch practice (healing touch is a therapeutic practice similar to reiki). Melisa has been in the health, nursing, and medical field for around 20 years and has worked in higher education for over a decade.

As a nurse practitioner and doctor of nursing, Melisa has extensive training and experience providing primary care to families across the lifespan, from pre-conception, through pregnancy and postpartum care, and the primary care of children and adults.

With more than 10 years' experience in higher education, Melisa has developed, coordinated, and taught in undergraduate nursing and complementary medicine programs and master's level nurse practitioner programs throughout Australia and the United States. She has also coordinated and taught Maternal-Child Nursing in the U.S.

Drawing on her health and education experience, Melisa operated the largest higher education college for Complementary Medicine in the southern hemisphere, heading up its educational programs, teaching clinics, and college operations while operationally leading the college's centre for Complementary Medicine research.

Having birthed four babies while juggling university studies and work, Melisa knows all too well how challenging it can be to fulfil your dream of helping others while balancing life and being fully present as your children grow into the amazing people they are becoming.

That is why Melisa has now switched her focus back to the thing that's closest to her heart - empowering women's choices and educating compassionate people to support women and children's health and wellbeing.

As the founder of Melwell College, Melisa is both humbled and honoured that you have chosen to join our college community and embark on your learning journey with us.

Welcome to our community of care.

With love,
